As an artist... I enjoy working in a range of styles and mediums. I feel equally excited working on botanical studies, landscape or portraiture as with abstract pieces related to my love of music. Professionally I carry out commissions from print publishers in the UK and USA. illustration work, book jackets and CD covers. My many one-man and mixed exhibitions include the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London and Sheffield University. I have work in many private collections.
As a tutor ...
Having worked in Primary and Secondary schools developing
thriving Art and Design departments I then headed an expanding programme
of Creative Arts within Further Education.
I ran courses at the Eden Project
- drawing and painting breaks and the hugely successful introduction to
drawing for absolute beginner adults. I have the privilege of working
with the Dante Quartet during their Summer Music Festivals - as their
'Artist in Residence' we combine to run sessions 'Paint the Music!'
I have tutored pre retirement courses for British Coal and worked within
the NHS to improve the drawing skills of surgeons.
All these experiences have enabled me to help everyone from 7 years to 90
years, from beginnings to preparation for degree courses and beyond - and
all sorts of mixes in between.
